Deluge

Deluge’s aim is to let you download torrents off the web and onto your computer. With this torrent client on your desktop machine, you will have no problems creating and downloading torrents. There’s much to like about the application: user friendly interface, support for magnet and torrent files, numerous preferences to play with, all for the awesome price of free.

As mentioned above, Deluge is a cross-platform application. This P2P file-sharing application can be used on Windows (XP, Vista, 7, 8), Mac OS X, FreeBSD, Ubuntu, Debian, Fedora, OpenSUSE, Arch, GEntoo, Slackware, and Foresight. The setup wizard that guides you through the Windows installation process invites you to associate magnet and .torrent files with Deluge. This means that when you launch such a file, Deluge will launch automatically.

The interface is typical for a torrent client: there’s a sidebar in the upper left hand corner that groups your torrents into categories (Downloading, Active, Seeding, so on), a large panel in the upper right hand side that presents the torrent progress, download/upload speed and ETA, and a panel down at the bottom that provides more in-depth information about a selected torrent.

Another thing that’s typical is the functionality you get from the application: create torrents, download torrents, choose where the downloaded data will be stored, torrent protocol encryption, set upload/download limits, set slot limits, enable various plugins, pause and resume torrent downloads, remove torrents and downloaded data, proxy support, password protection, and more.

Deluge is a properly good torrent client and a nice alternative to BitTorrent or uTorrent.
